Wyldcard
Art work from [Jonah Stiennon](/artists/wyldcard-jonah-stiennon) Featured at the [CODAME](/orgs/codame) [ART+TECH Festival](/orgs/codame/events/codame-art-tech-festival-2013) (2024) #Essence "Wyldcard Tarot Deck", is an electronic tarot deck, in a neo-edwardian style: blending modern digital technology with the aesthetic of 1900-1910 scientific instruments. Atop a case made from hand-planed black-walnut with custom brass fittings sit four e-ink tarot cards which "magically" change to reveal your fortune when a button is pressed. The tarot cards are custom-designed e-ink displays which have a paper-like quality. The images on the cards were created using a modern AI image synthesizer. The piece attempts to blend our interaction and understanding of the boundary between digital and physical while attempting to make the technology feel like magic.
