Katsukokoiso.ai is the artistic identity of Eugenio Marongiu, an Italian artist born in Sassari in 1980 and based in Milan since 2009. After more than sixteen years of professional experience as a photographer, his practice progressively shifted toward artificial intelligence, transforming his visual language into a research-based exploration of synthetic imagery as both medium and subject. Rooted in photography but now fully developed through AI image and video generation, his work investigates the evolution of visual culture in the post-photographic era. Through a poetic, cinematic, and conceptually driven approach, he explores themes such as identity, memory, solitude, alienation, hyperconnectivity, and the increasingly unstable relationship between human beings and technological systems. His works often exist in a suspended space between intimacy and simulation, reality and hallucination, giving shape to a form of synthetic surrealism that reflects the emotional and social tensions of contemporary life. Alongside his artistic production, Marongiu has developed a strong research-oriented practice around emerging generative technologies, using AI not as a shortcut but as a new visual language through which to question perception, representation, and the future of image-making. His work stands at the intersection of art, photography, and technological experimentation. His works have been exhibited internationally in institutions, festivals, galleries, and cultural platforms including AImagination in Shanghai and Paris, the Jeonju International Photo Festival in South Korea, Artist + Intelligence in Santa Monica, MEET Digital Culture Center in Milan, P61 Gallery in Berlin, Designmonat Graz, and the Karuizawa New Art Museum in Japan. In March 2026, he was invited to Alicante for ALIOLA, Jornadas de Diseño, where he delivered the opening lectio magistralis and received the Premio ALIOLA a la Trayectoria Artística. His work has been featured in interviews, editorials, and media platforms such as OpenAI’s Sora Showcase, RED-EYE, Collater.al, NFT Magazine, D la Repubblica, Arte.tv, and AI Muse. He also teaches AI for image generation at CFP Bauer in Milan, contributing to the critical discussion around contemporary visual culture and the creative possibilities of artificial intelligence.
