THE PROJECT Sonic Lens is an evolving sound system that transforms architecture into music. The project exists in two connected forms: the Sonic Lens Arc Installation—an immersive physical gateway in virtual gallery space—and the Sonic Lens Application—a mobile tool that puts this power in your hands. THE CONTEXT Before phones, bells were our data-wired connection. Bronze towers warned us, informed us, measured our days. Architecture spoke in sound. We knew how to listen. Then we forgot. THE ARC INSTALLATION Walk into the virtual gallery space at CODAME x Google, Milan. The glowing Arc stands before you—a modern bell tower, translating visual data into sonic data in real-time. As you move through the archway, you see architecture transform: the interior of Saint-Louis-des-Chartrons Cathedral in Bordeaux becomes four different sonic landscapes. Four Sonic Sound Lenses analyze what they see: * Openness Lens - depth becomes atmospheric resonance * Motion Lens - movement becomes rhythmic pulse * Edges Lens - structure becomes harmonic lines * Vertical Edges Lens - height becomes melodic rise Each lens reads visual patterns differently. Each creates a unique composition. Walk around. The music changes with your position. THE APPLICATION Now point your own phone. The same technology that powers the Arc lives in your pocket. Aim at any space—a cathedral, a street corner, your kitchen—and choose your lens. Structure becomes sound. Motion becomes melody. But Sonic Lens doesn't stop at generation. Tune what you hear. Change the beat. Layer your favorite sounds on top. Every composition starts unique and becomes completely yours. THE EVOLUTION This is a living system. Four lenses now. More coming.
